Wednesday morning resi update

Wednesday morning resi update:

We survived another night! All children zonked out pretty quickly, even the ones that were a bit anxious, and none of us adults had any knocks at the door. Amazing! When I went to check rooms, there was nothing but snoring and deep breathing. All good. That means children rested, and are ready for the day.

It was horrendous rain-wise first thing but now as I am typing the sun is starting to come out and the rain has stopped. We should have sunny intervals this afternoon - thank goodness as I am already certain that some children have packed some wet things in bags already, so apologies for the smell when you open those...

Talking of smelly things, I think almost all children have been through the shower at least once. Some children, three times they say! There are a couple I am suspicious of, in terms of whether they actually used any water or just went into the shower cubicles... but we will attempt to get all through the shower today and return sweet-smelling children to you tomorrow.... I make no promises. Please remember to greet them with loving cuddles even if they look and smell as if they have been through a hedge backwards. They might actually have.... plenty of hedges here...

Breakfast went down well - pancakes, syrup and bacon, as well as the usual cold options. All ate well and today's activities incllude zip wire, catapault making, fencing and climbing. I have already heard about lots of children beating their personal bests, so that's great. One of our governors, Mrs Aldred, has joined us for the day today and she is having a lovely day with children who try to push themselves and are behaving in that St Martin's way, and making me proud.

I have to say, we do have some children who have been here long enough to have grown in confidence and are now getting slightly cocky that they can get away with more stuff. They can't, of course... not only have they forgotten it's me, so they don't get to get away with anything, but I have already confiscated some items not used as agreed, and I have a couple that may soon be under threat of sitting with me whilst I work this afternoon instead of doing activities... but hopefully the threat will be enough!

Off to lunch soon. Oh good. The joy of crisp swapping again. thank goodness we have ALL DAY to sort that. Cheese and onion, anyone?
