Residential Update - 23.10.24 Wednesday afternoon

What a day - the children have enjoyed a range of different activities including vertical gym (we were amazed at the number of children (and staff) who made it to the top!), problem solving (so much fun watching children trying to figure things out - with varied levels of success and some absolute carnage), nightline (interesting which children really struggled when they were blindfolded) and archery!
There has been much cake in between a lunch of sandwiches, crisps and fruit - thank you to everyone who provided us with cake! Tile Barn are very focussed on reducing food waste and provide a limited range of each option - which has led to negotiating at some meals e.g. we have 15 chicken rolls and 15 ham rolls (and some other rolls too) - of the 18 children who want chicken, who would be prepared to swap and have ham? We have been so impressed with the way our children have compromised, which has meant that everyone has managed to have food they like! It's possible this is as a result of the fact that being prepared to negotiate, might mean you get something e.g. to go first for breakfast... but I'm sure our children are just negotiating out of the kindness of their hearts. I think...
We're currently enjoying playing guess what is for tea (it smells really good!) alongside some other games whilst doing visits to the shop in small groups. I've seen a range of different lovely mementos including rubbers, pencils, notebooks, torch keyrings - although I have warned that any torches that are shone in people's eyes will end up in my room!
I'm hoping for another good night's sleep - we definitely have some sleepy children - and then the joy of packing up before breakfast tomorrow - wish us luck! Because currently there are pants. Everywhere.
