Computing

Intent

Our intent statement sets out our vision our children within this subject and what we aim for them to experience through the curriculum at St Martin's.  It links to our school vision and values.
Implementation

Computing is taught in line with the long term map.  Depending on the topic, this may be a weekly lesson, blocked units of work or a mixture of both.

Please find below our:
Computing Overview which identifies when each computing unit of work is taught.
Computing Skills and knowledge Progression which identifies the skills and knowledge taught to each specific year group.

Impact
  • Computing is an enjoyed subject across the year groups at St Martin’s, this is evident during the lessons as well as from subject manager pupil conferencing.
  • Pupil conferencing shows that the children across the school like to use the different devices and programmes we have to develop their knowledge and skills within Computing.
  • Throughout their time at school, the children are taught how to keep themselves safe when using technology and the internet when they are using them both at school and at home. Pupil conferencing shows that the children are aware of what personal information is and understand that it should not be shared on the internet. They know what they can do to protect themselves and who they should tell if something they don’t like comes up.
Children attain well across the school in Computing (outcomes at the end of 2023-2024):
