Residential Update - 22.10.24 - Tuesday evening

Residential Update: 22.10.24 Tuesday evening

And as if by magic - all children were asleep by 10.30pm!

We've had a lovely day. Children have completed lots of activities and are suitably worn out. They have continued to impress us all with how many of them pushed themselves to achieve more than they thought they could.

Lunch was sausages rolls, cheese and onion rolls, alongside crisps, fruit and a chocolate bar. Dinner was burger in a roll, or breaded chicken in a roll, and chips, alongside salad and bread. When you add in a healthy portion of birthday cake, all children have eaten well, so for those that have been worrying, there is no need.

Sadly, the positive news does not continue, as now we come to the fiasco that is the bunk rooms. I am afraid that I am unable to guarantee either that your child will bring home all their things, nor that they will not bring home anyone else's. If I told you that one child (again, I'll share for a small fee who) was trying to repack their case every time they got something out of it, because they had stood it on it's end and was opening it like a book, and everything fell out each time, you'll have a small snapshot of the sort of carnage we are dealing with here.

We are however proud that all children had a shower this evening! Not all were that keen, and we cannot guarantee that water actually touched their skin, but we think most look almost clean.
We've also just enjoyed a lovely campfire - it turns out it only takes one headteacher and one soon-to-be-acting one, to build a fabulous fire, even if we do say so ourselves! We sang some songs and Mrs Bartlett read us a ghost story (not scary we promise), as well as some children leading songs - some excerpts attached for you to enjoy!

All children asleep by 10.30am feels like a victory. The team that bothered to show up from day 1 think we've just worn them all out more today, but Mrs Bartlett feels it's her influence.
We shall agree to disagree.

And here's hoping for a quiet night?!
