Visit to the Foodbank

Mrs Rennison and I had a lovely visit to the West Berks Foodbank this morning with the school council. We had a tour of the warehouse, saw all the donations that they currently have, looked at where they receive donations, found out how they weigh in all the donations, learned about how they sort and organise the food based on dates so that they use the items with the shortest best before dates first and saw how they pack up donations into food parcels which then go off to help people in the local area. We particualry liked the room with all the toiletries in (because it smelled lovely) and the roon where all the biscuits and chocolates are kept!

The children then helped the volunteers to weigh in some of the recent donations and sort them based on the dates.

As always our children were beautifully behaved, listened really carefully and were very keen to help the volunteers with the different jobs!
