It was the first choir rehearsal of the year today - and I had 43 children sign up! Cue a very happy choir wrangler.
I have lost quite a few old members, which is ok.. it's extra-curricular, so it's their choice. There may be a couple that just forgot this week (although we did remind them). I have 15 new members. FIFTEEN! I'm thrilled, and not all new Y1s either. Today we made a seating plan so that everyone was happy with who they were sat with, and talked about Christmas songs. Next week, we start singing!
Y6 choir parents - I have lost a few of my old singers from Y6, who have told me they'd like a break, but might re-join in the Spring term. I'm a bit sad they have gone but as I've told them, it is absolutely their choice. This seems to happen every year (possibly too cool for school?!) but last year I know some children regretted their choice and asked to come back and they are always welcome - I've said just come talk to me.
I've also touted the possible idea of a St Martin's Y6 chamber choir wit the Y6s that came today... with the explanation to them that it may not work but we might give it a try! They were very excited...
