Residential update - Monday evening

Residential update: Monday evening

‘‘Twas the first night of resi, and all through the bunkhouse, were CHILDREN TOO CHATTY TO SLEEP! Honestly, I think all of years 5 and 6 must think I’m altogether not very bright, as it seems they don’t believe I can hear talking from the other side of the doors! After much good cop, bad cop, pleading cop and downright insistent cop from Ms Mendivil and I, all children were asleep at some point before midnight. It’s a late one, so they will be tired tomorrow, but we’ll cope so no problem.

Dinner was a happy affair - the choices were pasta bolognaise, macaroni cheese and/or pizza (marguerita or pepperoni). You could have a bit of everything if you wanted and many children did. There was also salad and bread and so all children are a good dinner - so please don’t worry. And of course there was cake for pudding too.

We then had our hour where it’s only our schools using the shower block. I’m pleased to report that 100% of the girls had a shower and, well… I’d like to give you better news but only about 22% of the boys did. Still, there’s always tomorrow!

Film night was great - the children were brilliant at watching quietly (or colouring and drawing quietly if they didn’t want to watch the film, which was night at the museum 2). I think the hot chocolate, squash and popcorn probably helped with their concentration…

Bedtime cuddles were offered by all of us adults and you’d be surprised at how many took up the offer. Then we settled down to try and sleep and, well, you know the rest - chatty children. But we got there. So I’m off to sleep myself, and hopefully that’s it till 7am wake up call. Keep your fingers crossed for a quiet night please!
