Tuesday morning Resi update

So. No poems this morning; it’s day two and my creativity has dissipated substantially. However, the night was reasonable for the first night. A couple of people had wobbles, so all of us adults had a knock at the door at some point during the night, but that’s to be expected and we don’t mind at all. Most children slept very well once asleep; I never sleep well on the first night so I prowled the corridor a couple of times and both times, both boys’ rooms were sound asleep, with one boy snoring like you wouldn’t believe could come from such a small person.

Both boys and girls woke up before the agreed 7am wake up time. Girls before boys, as my understanding is that the girls have not mastered the skill of closing a bedroom door after popping out to the toilet, without it slamming and waking everyone. So lots of showers were had by the girls, and by some of the boys, although some of them are ‘waiting till after canoeing’ which actually made sense to me (but was clearly an avoidance tactic).

Breakfast was sausages, hash browns and beans, and cold options as well as or instead of eg cereal, yoghurt. Everyone ate well and Mrs Hop joined us for breakfast and the day so I can work. Due to the horrendous rain, this morning we bought forward the end of the day activity which was circus skills eg Diablo, plate spinning etc, which we did inside. Cue much hilarity for us adults, as there is a difference between those that could, and those that could not, but all had fun! If you are a parent of one that could, I hear you can make a significant amount selling them to the circus… just a thought.

Groups are now off happily doing their activities, whilst I ‘sit and drink coffee’ as one child just described my role as headteacher. They will get wet. They will get cold. They will complain. We will feed them cake. They will be ok. We’re ok. Or so we as adults keep telling ourselves…
If not, they sell Prosecco at the Tescos in Lyndhurst. I’ve checked.
